The medical assistant/technician who took all the photos of my eyes and did the exams was fabulous. Dr. Shi was compassionate, knowledgeable and someone I very much look forward to working with. The only downside of your practice is the front desk personnel. The woman who checked me out could not make sense of my request to send visit notes to two of my other physicians and to get my records from my previous doctor. It was a very frustrating experience with her.

I had a fantastic experience here. I was visiting Monterey from out of town and had something happen to my eye – it felt like sand in it that I couldn’t get out. Originally I went to a local Doctors on Duty but they misdiagnosed me saying it was allergies and no signs of eye trauma. The next day I felt just as bad and so MBEC was able to get me in same-day and Dr. Nakajima found and measured a cornea abrasion. She then changed the drops the prior doctor had prescribed me. All this time I was in constant pain and struggling to function. I used the drops and the next morning (today) I’m 90% better. Dr. Nakajima then saw me again next day (today) for a follow up and indeed said it was notably better and cleared me of a potential ulcer. I’m very grateful firstly for the knowledgeable staff and their care, and secondly that they could fit me in so suddenly. Thanks!!!
